A world discovered from within
The Labyrinth’s exploration is designed around the experience of being in a place. Its paths and rooms form a world to move through, with discovery happening in the film rather than primarily through an abstract map.
The atlas above is a website guide to a selection of development footage. These six places belong to one town; they are a glimpse into the larger project.
Small spaces inside a vast journey
A large dream world still needs places worth pausing in. A theater’s seating, a bookstore loft, or the machinery of a clocktower can each become a distinct part of an exploratory journey.
Connected spaces give the cat’s travel local texture. The larger search for the family and the Tower gives that travel a direction.
Footage becomes a place
Explorable cinematic environments require more than a collection of attractive shots. The available routes, the view on arrival, and the way back need to belong together.
This is one of the core problems the shared technology is being developed to handle. The Labyrinth gives it an unusually expansive setting.
