A relationship is more than a line
Someone can have studied at an institution, founded a company, collaborated on a film, or influenced another creator. These are different kinds of association, even when they all appear as connections on a map.
6degrees is designed to let visitors follow those associations and inspect the relationship behind a link. The visual map provides context for the individual connection.

Let curiosity choose the route
You can begin with something familiar and expand outward. A cultural work may lead toward its collaborators; an invention toward its influences; an organization toward its people.
The examples in the relationship selector above describe categories used by the website. They do not assert a factual connection between specific people or organizations.
Two subjects, a path between them
Tracing a route asks a different question from browsing one subject: how do these two things connect? A chain of relationships can reveal a route that is hard to notice when each subject is considered alone.
Open the 6degrees explorer to follow the working map. These project pages provide context for the relationships and paths you discover.
